Carlson Tool and Manufacturing's West Plant designs and manufactures Plastic Injection Molds and Foundry related tooling for the Plastics and Cast Metals industries. Our services include: design, build, product modeling/development, and reverse engineering services to support the Consumer goods, Medical, Automotive, and Energy markets. An opening currently exists for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Quality-Driven Teams!
We are seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Tool & Die/Mold Maker to build and service high performance tooling for the Plastic Injection and Cast Metal industries.

Primary Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Tool & Die/Mold Maker to build and service high performance tooling for the Plastic Injection and Cast Metal industries.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Study specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product to determine materials required and machines and other processes to be used to fabricate parts.
- Compute dimensions, plan lay-outs, and determine assembly methods and sequence of operations.
- Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to machine parts, and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Use skills and processes to ensure products meet specifications concerning size accuracy, performance, finishes and other operational and quality characteristics.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers.
- Heat-treat tools or parts.
- Connect wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic lines to install components and circuits.
- Analyze designs and make recommendations for design modifications regarding construction and function of parts.
- Communicate with co-workers and Project Leaders to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
- Communicate with customers as requested to ensure product accuracy and quality.
- Polish, inspect and measure parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
- Initiate and manage subcontracted operations, such as grinding and heat-treating as needed.
- Maintain area and department in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
Requirements:
- Between 4 and 10 years of technical school, work experience, or apprenticeship directly related to Tool & Die/Mold making.
- Journeyman Tool & Die Maker a plus.
- Aptitude, abilities and skill set to produce high quality molds and dies.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes and other manufacturing related equipment.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read, interpret and analyze prints and computer based CAD plans and models.
- Ability to deal with a wide range of people and personalities in a manner that continuously reflects a positive team based work environment.
- Able to work under pressure and prioritize project requirements.
- Accuracy and ability to follow-through is essential.
